Keyboard shortcuts
A few keys cover most of a writing session. Open the app’s shortcut reference with Command / whenever you need the full list.
On a Mac, ⌘ means Command, ⌥ means Option, ⇧ means Shift, and ⌃ means Control. Hold the symbols shown together, then press the final key.
Write and revise
- ⌘Z / ⌘⇧Z
- Undo / redo.
- ⌘F / ⌘⌥F
- Find / find and replace.
- Shift Enter
- A line break within the current speech or direction.
- ⌘ Enter
- A page break.
- ⌘B / ⌘I / ⌘U
- Bold / italic / underline where the element supports emphasis.
- ⌘⌥M
- Comment on the selection.
- ⌘⇧C
- Open or close the comments pane.
Choose an element
On an empty line, press Enter, Tab or ; to open the element menu. With text on the line, Tab and Shift Tab cycle through common types.

- Action / Character.

- Dialogue / Parenthetical.
- ⌘⌥S / ⌘⌥T
- Scene Heading / Transition.

Move around
- ⌘1 / ⌘2 / ⌘3
- Script / Board / Outline.
- ⌘4 / ⌘5
- Cast / Changes.
- ⌘⌥B / ⌘⌥I
- Show or hide the binder / inspector.
- ⌘⌥↑ / ⌘⌥↓
- Previous / next scene.
- ⌘⇧J
- Go to a scene.
- ⌃Tab
- Move focus to the next area of the window. Add Shift to go backwards.
- ⌃⌘F
- Focus mode.
- ⌘⇧O
- Return to All Plays.
Save and export
- ⌘S
- Save now. The app also saves as you write.
- ⌘⇧E / ⌘P
- Export PDF / Print.
- ⌘,
- Open Settings.
- ⌘/
